According to an article in the Orlando Sentinel by Gary Taylor, a woman was held at knife point by 20 year old Casey Joseph Sacino after he harassed her niece as she was walking to school.
The article fails to include any quotes by the aunt or her niece, which I think is imperative in a news story. Usually a journalist will include a sentence at the bottom of the story mentioning that the person about whom the story was written declined to comment, however, there is no evidence that the writer of this article made any attempt to contact the girl or her aunt.
Additionally, the author states “he pulled out a 4-inch silver knife and began walking toward her and her niece.” Two sentences later he again says “a knife was found in Sacino’s pocket”. What was the point of his redundancy? I think it is simply due to poor editing because there was no value in mentioning this statement twice in the same paragraph.
